Learn MoreTypical configuration for a dump truck will be a PTO driving a hydraulic pump (typically a gear pump, but what kind doesn't really matter). There's a very notable difference in sound between that PTO being engaged and not being engaged. There are also mirrors, but they don't do you any good if you don't use them like you're supposed to.

Then slowly take off with PTO,dump valve engaged and in the up position. ALSO OPEN TALIGATE. You can leave the gate closed for a small amount of time. Open it before the loadshifts and wedges the gate locks.
