Now when it's time to lower the bed you reverse the pump valve and the weight of the bed pushes the fluid back thru the hoses the other way and the west end of the cylinder is now being filled with fluid. I believe this is how the system is set up on my truck. Thanks again for your response.

Sep 5, 2007 · Usually the reason for 2 hoses to a dump bed cylinder that lowers by gravity is to use the rod end of the cylinder as a reservoir for fluid. If this is done, the main reservoir only needs to be large enough to contain the ammount of fluid the rod would displace on a fully closed cylinder (pretty small ammount).

May 13, 2012 · The way to fix that would be to turn the pressure adjustment in to raise the pressure the pump bypasses to 2,000psi. If that is not the case and all the oil being pumped is going to the cylinder and the pump is just turning too slow then turning in the adjustment to increase the pump pressure would make no difference on the speed the bed goes up.

Apr 5, 2013 · To adjust the speed the bed raises at requires either a slower drive PTO input, or smaller pump. Basically the fluid movement needs slowed down. A slow raising bed is much safer to operate than a fast one. It kinda depends on operator preference but a heavy load with the possibility of becomming "off center" during the raise is dangerous at best.
